I feel deep need to reflect on today! I did a Brides makeup.I was driving to my office. I saw a veteran running with one leg holding a flag! The veteran was so much more important and proud! I saluted him and he held his flag high and saluted back!

It's That Time Again...

Something old, Something new
Something borrowed, Something blue

A sixpence is a coin that was minted in Britain from 1551 to 1967. It was made of silver and worth six pennies. So this wedding tradition is definitely English, and many sources say that it began in the Victorian era.
Each item in this poem represents a good-luck token for the bride. If she carries all of them on her wedding day, her marriage will be happy. "Something old" symbolizes continuity with the bride's family and the past. "Something new" means optimism and hope for the bride's new life ahead. "Something borrowed" is usually an item from a happily married friend or family member, whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride. The borrowed item also reminds the bride that she can depend on her friends and family.
As for the colorful item, blue has been connected to weddings for centuries. In ancient Rome, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. Christianity has long dressed the Virgin Mary in blue, so purity was associated with the color. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns, as evidenced in proverbs like, "Marry in blue, lover be true."
And finally, a silver sixpence in the bride's shoe represents wealth and financial security. It may date back to a Scottish custom of a groom putting a silver coin under his foot for good luck. For optimum fortune, the sixpence should be in the left shoe. These days, a dime or a copper penny is sometimes substituted, and many companies sell keepsake sixpences for weddings.

How to make nude makeup work for you...

Time to get back to the basics...what better place to start than with your makeup? Are you ready to go Au-natural, or does the thought of barely there makeup freak you out? I know that putting the nude look together can be a bit daunting and can sometimes result in washed out lips or sallow skin...so, here are the best tips and makeup for a fresh and flawless face for Spring. Kudos to everyone at Refinery 29...they always have great tips.

Lips: Powers recommends picking lip colors that correspond with your skin's undertone and level: "Choose shades that are at least as dark as your skin color, if not slightly darker. If you go too light, you risk looking washed out. Lip gloss is usually a bit more transparent and it allows your own lip color to show through. If you choose a pale nude gloss you're basically making a slightly lighter version of your natural lip color; and using a transparent peach tone gloss for fair to medium skin or a transparent orange tone gloss for deeper skin, can add a little life to your lip if a straight skin tone shade looks too dull.

Eyes: A soft, brownish shadow that's a shade slightly darker than your skin tone is an easy way to enhance your eyes, but Zilber's neutral go-to shadow is peach. "I'm a big believer in peach eyeshadow. It doesn't come off chalky, it brightens without looking like you're wearing any color, and it neutralizes any blue on the lids or around the yes (like veins or shadows). Apply it to the inner corners of the eyes, across the lid, and dust a bit onto the brown bone. I like to finish the look with a few swipes of brown mascara."

Cheeks: "If you're entire makeup look consists of nude and neutral tones, the trick is to make sure you have enough color on your cheeks," says Powers. "Try a mat bronzer that isn't too orange, and apply it to your forehead, bridge of the nose, chin, center of the neck as well as your cheeks. If you make sure that your skin has a healthy glow you won’t risk looking washed out."

Having a professional makeup artist for your wedding.

It is extremely important to have a professional makeup artist do your makeup on your wedding day.  Knowing how to apply makeup for the camera is completely different from applying your everyday makeup, you don't want to look washed out.

You should look like you, but more enhanced. That means you need more makeup than you normally wear so it will show up on camera.

The Final Touch By Mendi takes the time to get to know you and how you would like to look on you wedding day. We always do a makeup and hair consultation, so we and you know how you want to look for your big day. A chart will be drawn up for you with all the colors listed, so there will be no questions when we do your makeup and hair on your wedding day.
When we do your bridesmaids and moms makeup and hair we keep to your color schemes, so your photos come out stunning! Mixed matched makeup looks terrible in photographs, so it is important to have all bridesmaids in the same color schemes.

My team and I just finished two beautiful weddings. One was for Kim and Nathan Tafoya.

Kim picked our "All Your Dreams Come True" package.
This consisted of photos; engagement portraits, bridal portraits, and our special boudoir portraits...the perfect wedding night gift for her new husband. It also included makeup, with a makeup chart, and hair.
Nathan also had our team do hair and shaves for himself and his father. We also did hair and makeup for Kim's mother and all of her Bridesmaids. They all looked fabulous for their portraits!
Here's a look at what we did....

Here is a very sweet letter from the bride, Kim.
" I just wanted to take a minute to thank Mendi and her team for helping make my wedding day truly AMAZING! I was so impressed with their high level of professionalism and loved how my hair and makeup turned out. Mendi is a very talented lady and I loved the products she used. I didn't feel like I had any makeup on at all and I looked so stunning that my husband couldn't take his eyes off me once. I would highly recommend The Final Touch to EVERYONE for their special day."

For our second wedding, Lindsey picked our "Everything Perfection" package.
This package consists of photos; engagement and bridal portraits. Hair and makeup before wedding and touch up hair and makeup before the reception. Groom also receives hair and a shave.

Here's a little note from Lindsey...
I can't thank you enough for the wonderful time I had.
You are an amazing makeup artist! I had a great time and I am looking forward to the next photo shoot.
You're Amazing!
Love, Lindsey

Both brides loved our work and loved our "No Stress" motto.
Kim and Lindsey loved their makeup gifts as well!
